Misa Murata
is a phytotherapist / plant expressionist. Studied phytotherapy and focused on "the relationship between people and plants". After conducting fieldwork in Japan, she launched the botanical brand "Verseau" to sell products made from domestic medicinal herbs. In recent years, Murata has been engaged in a dialogue with her body and mind, which she has continued since his own illness, and her expressive activities are based on the sensations she obtains from the natural environment.
Maybe it is because my home in Kyoto, where I am based, is near mountains, but when the weather is nice, the stars are beautiful. I always look up at the sky and murmur to myself about how the stars look better today or how beautiful these stars are, using the night sky as a talking partner. On this particular day, the two of us were looking at the night sky together. The night sky was especially beautiful on such a day, and the scenery remained in a corner of my brain.

Self-employed, 28 years old. Mainly runs a store. I run a select store on the west side of Kyoto City where I find value in old things and search for new things. In addition, I also do a little design and help out at a coffee shop. By doing various jobs at the same time, I keep my life fresh everyday.

For me, work and life are connected and cannot be separated. It is precisely because I cannot separate them that I need to switch off the switch, and it is during bath time that my head, which is constantly thinking in circles, becomes lighter. It is during the bath time that the head that keeps thinking in circles becomes lighter and lighter. I was able to visualize what I had only sensed before.

Yuma Kawano
Enthralled by the allure of coffee during his university days, Kawano went on to win a national latte art competition in 2012. After encountering single-origin coffee, he bought a coffee roaster and began roasting coffee in his home, eventually opening "LIGHT UP COFFEE", a coffeeshop that seeks to brighten the world through tasty coffee, in Kichijoji. While managing his own shop, Kawano also worked as a UX designer at Recruit Holdings Co., Ltd. for 1.5 years, before setting up his own company, LIGHT UP COFFEE, and opening stores in Kyoto and Shimokitazawa, and working double duty as a CEO/barista. He also is involved in the production of coffee in Bali and Vietnam, with an aim to make coffee in Asia more delicious.

Born in 1991 in Osaka. After coming to Tokyo, Furuya held a series of jobs including a food coordinator agency, a HR startup firm specializing in the restaurant industry, and a web-based media company specializing in food. In the autumn of 2020, she moved from tokyo to Miura City, Kanagawa. There, on weekends she works as the storeowner of "Seiro Syokudo Kaeru", a restaurant specializing in steamed dishes which she opened with friends, and on weekdays as a freelance editor, writer, and web designer.

The term "relocate" sounds a bit too exaggerated, but moving to the countryside did indeed change my lifestyle. I came to spend more time examining myself, and made more friends with similar tastes, enriching my daily life. We cannot live all by ourselves, but at the same time we are alone till we pass. When we can enjoy being alone, living alongside others becomes more fun. That's how I feel these days.

I thought the concept of "bringing deep breaths to everyday life" was very beautiful. I wrote this essay in the spirit of, "there may be hardships at times in our daily lives, but why not let out a deep breath, even if it's as a sigh, breathe in, and start walking again when you feel like it".

Although we wish to spend every day in a good mood, there are days where you just can't be the version of yourself you like. I was assigned to write about the theme "melancholy", so I decided to write about when it was one of those days for me. I would be delighted if you would read it while waiting for your bathtub to fill up, or while you relax in the bath.

The theme was "strange", so I thought I would write about the rarest occurence I saw in recent days. Apparently it was the first total lunar eclipse in 442 years, but it was a good opportunity to record the small days of our ephemeral existence, born and disappearing within this infinite universe.

At first I wanted to write about the growth of my 0-year old daughter. However, I became embarrased as it turned out to be a doting parent's diary no matter how I wrote it, and as a result of a major change of direction during my third draft or so, it became a story about crows and kites. The two are entirely different episodes, but their message turned out to be the same. I wrote about the "joy" of "being unable to comprehend something".

I wrote about a time many years ago, when I frequented a certain public bathhouse. When nothing was going my way, and my worries and troubles were endless, the act of bathing as always at my usual spot seemed to hold my heart in place. I want to be a person who can think, "Oh, well" even when the results aren't what I imagined.

Bathtime after a day of hard work. It's a dreamlike and happy time for me. I like to burn incense, turn down the lights, and bathe by candlelight. I wrote this while imagining a special time like that which can be had anytime. To spend time for your own, to think and to write. I think that is the reward above all else for yourself after a day of hard work.
A bathtime that deepens your breaths, like "haaaaah"
“The end of the day. You make your way to the bathroom to take a bath.
